Opposite Sea Productions was founded by Nina Thomas and Joanna Aliano. Born and raised oceans apart (Spain and Brazil, hi!) they have come together in NYC to produce, direct and edit stories they find compelling.

Nina Thomas is a French/Spanish Film Editor and Documentary Producer based in NYC. She  is currently a Junior Editor at the post-production company House of Trim in NYC, where she has worked on commercial, branded content and documentary projects for well-known companies such as TOYOTA, ESPN, The New Yorker, Herman Miller and D.S. & Durga. Some of her branded content work was featured in GQ Magazine, Condé Nast Traveller and Esquire.  

 

She has worked as an editor on the short documentary “The Jerome Project”, which premiered at BAM in NYC, and in 2018 she edited and produced the documentary Love From Afar, which has been selected for multiple film festivals in the US. (@transoceanicgirl)

Joanna Aliano is a Brazilian Photographer, Filmmaker and overall Media Geek based in Brooklyn. After graduating with a B.A. in Journalism, Media Studies and Digital Arts Joanna got accepted into the M.A. Media Studies program at The New School in New York City. 

Since graduating she has worked on different projects as a Story Consultant, Producer and Director. 

As a photographer, Joanna has been published in publications such as SPOTZ, an independent publishing project. 

 

She is currently working on Tiny Apple, a short documentary series that takes a personal look at the cultural and socioeconomic shift that New York City is currently going through. (@_okayjo
